. | The Bosworth Academy Performing Arts team are proud to announce the upcoming production of Bugsy Malone. For the first time in Bosworth history all key stages are involved. At least half of our wonderful, talented cast are from our new Laureates in Year 7. We are also very proud to be offering students not just the opportunity to perform but also to become members of the stage crew. The stage crew is being led and mentored by our very experienced Design Technician, Nicole Foxall. She has the students managing budgets, organising costumes and designing and building the set. They have also organised several fantastic fundraisers around the school including a ‘dress for an era’ non uniform day, a delicious cake sale and ‘Name the Bugsy Malone Teddy Bear’.
The musical is a feast of action, music and a splurge of guns galore. Two rival mobster gangs fight a comic war against the backdrop of New York City and 1920s prohibition. Meanwhile our leading man, Bugsy, played by the talented James Cottis, tries to win the affection of Blousy Brown. She is talented singer and feisty young woman who wants to realise her dreams and become famous. Our first show takes place on Wednesday 18th March with subsequent performances on Friday 20th and Saturday 21st (matinee and evening). You will be invited into Fat Sam’s Speakeasy and sit at tables to watch the show, allowing you to become part of the production. For some of our performances you will be able to purchase tickets which will provide you with food during the performance. All catering will be done in house, led by Claire Brockhouse (head of ADT and Catering) and her fabulous team of BTEC Catering students. Tickets will be available from 2nd March from Bosworth Academy main reception. A big thank you goes out to all students and parents who have given extra help with the cake sale and supporting the fundraising stage crew have been doing to raise funds for the production. Also ‘Name the Bugsy Malone Teddy Bear’ will be continuing throughout the shows with the winner being announced following the final performance. The teddy bear will include one of the Trilby hats and one of the fully working ‘splurge guns’. Please come and support us and bring your friends and family too! Many thanks The Performing Arts Department |
