HTTPS Certificate


Bosworth Academy Internet is configured to use HTTPS Interception. For this to work your device may require an additional security certificate to avoid problems with HTTPS sites, in particular those with HSTS or HTTPS certificate pinning.

DOWNLOAD CERTIFICATE [link]

Microsoft Edge

  • Click the Download the certificate link and save the file
  • Go to Menu > Settings
  • Go to Privacy, Search and Services > Certificates
  • Under Security click Manage Certificates
  • Go to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab
  • Click Import
  • Navigate to your download directory and select the file you downloaded earlier
  • Click Next x2
  • Click Finish and close the Certificates window and settings tab
  • Close and Restart Microsoft Edge

Chrome (Windows)

  • Click the Download the certificate link and save the file
  • Go to Menu > Settings
  • Go to Privacy and Security > Security
  • Scroll down to Advanced
  • Click Manage Certificates
  • Go to the Trusted Root Certification Authorities tab
  • Click Import
  • Navigate to your download directory and select the file you downloaded earlier
  • Click Next x2
  • Click Finish and close the Certificates window and settings tab
  • Close and Restart Chrome

Mozilla Firefox (Windows)

  • Click the Download the certificate link
  • Click the downloaded certificate file and click OK and Open
  • Click Install Certificate…
  • Select Current User and click Next
  • Select Place All Certificates in the following store and click Browse…
  • Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click ok
  • When prompted select Trust this CA to identify web sites and click OK
  • Click Next
  • Click Finish and close the Certificates window/li>
  • Restart Mozilla Firefox

Apple Mac Devices (OS X)

  • Click the Download the certificate link and save the file
  • From the Finder menu, go to Go > Utilities.
  • Launch the Keychain Access application
  • From the Keychains panel, click System
  • From the Category panel, click Certificates
  • Create a new keychain by clicking the [ + ] at the bottom of the Keychain Access window
  • Navigate to your download directory and select the certificate file
  • Click Open
  • If prompted, enter your MAC password and click Modify Keychain Access
  • Double-click the relevant certificate in the list
  • Expand the Trust section
  • In the When using this certificate drop-down, select Always Trust
  • Close the certificate window
  • When prompted, enter your MAC password to confirm the changes and click Update Settings
  • Close the Keychain Access window

iPad, iPhone, iPod, iOS (Safari)

  • Use Safari browser to download the certificate
  • Click the Download the certificate link
  • You will be prompted to say Profile Downloaded, press Close
  • Load the Settings app, and at the top of the main page, tap Profile Downloaded and Click Install
  • If prompted, enter or configure your password to confirm
  • You may be prompted with a Warning about installing the certificate, click Install x2
  • >Navigate to Settings > General > About > Certificate Trust Settings and enable Full Trust for Root certificates
  • Close settings and restart any broswers you may have open.

Android (Chrome)

  • Click the Download the certificate link
  • You may be prompted saying your connection is not private, click Advanced and then click Proceed to cdn.realsmart.co.uk
  • The Certificate will download but it will prompt you to say must be installed in settings, click Close
  • Go to Settings and search Certificate and click CA Certificate
  • Click CA Certificate and it will prompt you with a ‘warning a privacy risk’, Click Install Anyway
  • You will be prompted for either your fingerprint, pattern or passcode
  • Click Download and then select the BA-Smoothwall-2024.crt certifiate and click Done
  • Now click Wi-Fi Certificate
  • Click Download and then select the BA-Smoothwall-2024.crt certifiate and click Done
  • When prompted, enter a name of your choice for the certificate e.g. BA Wifi
  • Click OK
  • Close settings and restart any broswers you may have open.
  • Please note, on Android devices it may say there is No Internet Connection when there is, this can be checked using Chrome or a Browser of your choice

Chromebook, ChromeOS

  • Click the Download the certificate link
  • Go to Menu > Settings
  • Expand Show advanced settings
  • Go to HTTPS/SSL and click Manage certificates…
  • Go to Authorities and click Import…
  • Navigate to your download directory and select the file you downloaded earlier
  • Select Trust this certificate for identifying websites
  • Click OK
  • Click Finished and close the settings tab
