In School Vaccinations

As part of the standard vaccination programme for children and young people, the Community Nursing Team will be in school tomorrow to deliver HPV vaccinations. If your child previously missed one of these when in Year 8 -or the Teenage Booster vaccination in Year 9- they will be given a slot tomorrow. Information on timings has been sent to staff and individual students. If you have not previously provided consent, you will be contacted on the day.

Work Experience Update

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement regarding the continuation of restrictions until July 19th, there has been a knock on effect on employers. Unfortunately this means that there will be a number of students whom LEBC will be unable to place, especially in sectors such as healthcare and hospitality or where staff are furloughed or working from home until restrictions are lifted. They are still working hard to try to find placements for as many students as possible by the end of this week but, sadly, won’t be able to place everyone this summer.

We will be in touch shortly when we have more information from LEBC. We do appreciate how disappointing this must be.

Creative writing competition: write a spine chiller in 100 words, open to 11-18 year olds.

Please note that in order to continue into Year 13, you must have achieved a minimum of two E grades at AS, or end of year internal grades, and be continuing in those subjects.

If you wish to drop a subject going forward into Year 13, please see Mrs Brookes in the Post 16 Office for a blue form at the start of the autumn term. Forms will NOT be available until then.

Here is an extract from an entry:

Hedgehog bush-bound baby.

If I was a tailor, then I’d be walking free,

But my old man’s a sailor, and he’ll make

one of me,

Mother says I’m wasted, my talents lie behind the line,

But father he won’t take it, he knows what’s right for him, so that’s what’s right for me.
